For your question (polikariolis), it depends on which version and which carrier your phone is on. CDMA diamond is known to have double the RAM of the GSM version of diamond.
Also, your carrier may have put in extra bloatware/UI stuff.. Telus didn’t tamper with the UI much, but they took out some features.. I had to use the registry to unlock GPS!!
If you update to the newest ROM from HTC’s website, the memory usage may come down. I hope this answers your question.

why is it that on my HTC diamond when all my programs are closed i use atlest 50% of my memory and on this phone as we can see it uses only 37%? on my phone on start–up it uses exactly 50% any help would be appreciated:) (press reply if u have an answer!thnks in advance)
google is using the internet.
u can download a diff gps application like tom tom, garmin or iGuidance, these applications dont use the internet.

Ofcourse it won’t work inside, no GPS device does. It may work for some if you have really really thin walls, it can also get a signal from the corner of your house if there are windows nearby.
you will need wifi or the cell network. this is due to all maps are downloaded from google as you search and move around in the app. sorry!

The GPS called “amAze” is a good free gps also. As long as you have an unlimited data plan, it is free to use. Look up some reviews of the amAze GPS for mobile phones on youtube, I’ve used it on my HTC diamond, and it works great.
Can you install windows live search? If so can you do a video on it running.
Select ‘My Location’ under ‘Menu’ and it will follow you….. until you touch the screen anywhere else.
Ok, i downloaded the google maps, but i cant use the gps for some reason. Do we need to adjust some GPs settings or something? Please let me know. I’m assuming we have to use the “My location” feature after GPS has been enabled through “Use GPS”. Is that right?

Awesome, I’m seriously considering this phone as my next phone, but I’m just curious about how you use the mapping/GPS features… how do you install the Google maps / TOM TOM maps. Is there a site I can go to to view this in more detail? I’ve noticed people saying you can get TOM TOM maps for it, but I can’t seem to find them on the TOM TOM site?? Any help would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks.
