Mazda was not quite a full fledged automotive company when it began its work in the industry. The company demonstrated greater involvement with the production of machine tools throughout the early years of its operations. Not until the Toyo Cork Kogyo Co., Ltd finally decided to switch from the production of machine tools to the manufacture of four-wheel rides, would the company finally gain its name, Mazda. It was a great choice name, after the powerful God Ahura Mazda, and quite apt too since Mazda was fated to become one of the giants in the automotive industry. While manufacturing machine tools was a good business, being in the car industry opened up more opportunities for Mazda in terms of profit and development. Witnessing the phenomenal growth that the company has achieved in the automotive market, management officials of the company finally decided to change its name to Mazda Motor Corporation. This allowed Mazda to be truly identified with automobiles since then.

Together with other famous names, brands, and models in the automotive industry, Mazda pioneered a number of new car technologies that left their marks in the history of revolutionary automotive developments. But Mazda didn’t earn its solid reputation the easy way. Employing exacting standards for each and every single auto part produced, Mazda was able to build a reputation solely on the excellence of its cars and car parts. This, however, didn’t stop the company from improving on the quality of their cars and car parts even more.

Over the years, sales of OEM Mazda parts began a steady climb. Market conditions were favorable and contributed a great deal to the surge in consumer demands for OEM Mazda parts. Basically companies that purchase manufactured products from another company in order to resell them, OEM for Mazda grew in number as well, with many OEM companies emerging from the woordwork to provide consumers with exceptional Mazda OEM Parts. All these companies offering Mazda OEM Parts have one goal in mind – to HELP Mazda owners look for suitable replacements to take the place of old and worn Mazda parts. These OEM companies also offer a run of choices for those thinking to add on a few accessories to their beloved vehicles. So, whether it is to secure Mazda part replacements or simply to locate performance parts that would improve the car’s operations, car owners wouldn’t have much trouble in finding what they want since there are lots of Mazda OEM Parts available in the market these days. Caution should still be practiced, however so consumers must take care to get their parts from trusted and reliable Mazda OEM Parts around.

About Mazda

Mazda Motor Corporation is a Japanese automotive manufacturer is based in Hiroshima, Japan. As of last year, 2006, the company has projected 1.25 million vehicles per year with sales equally distributed among its different markets namely Japan, Europe, North America and Latin America.

The name of the company is claimed to be derived from Ahura Mazda, the transcendental God of Zoroastrianism. It is also claimed that Mazda coincides with the anglicized pronunciation of the founder’s name Jujiro Matsuda who was interested in spirituality and chose to name his company Mazda to honor both his family and Zoroastrianism. Mazda means wisdom in the Avestan language. But in Japanese the company has always been pronounced and spelled as “Matsuda” which makes many to believe that Mazda is just a poorly anglicized version of the founder’s name.

Mazda began as the Toyo Cork Kogyo Co., Ltd, founded in Japan in 1920 manufacturing machine tools. In 1927 it was renamed Toyo Kogyo Co., Ltd. and shortly after started manufacturing vehicles, the first being a three-wheel truck, the Mazdago, in 1931.

Mazda’s first car, the Mazda R360 Coupe two-door passenger vehicle, came out in 1960, with the four-door Mazda Carol appearing in 1962. The next year, Mazda’s car production topped one million. During the 1970s, Mazda successfully entered the North American market, and financial difficulties during the 1990s saw Ford take a controlling interest in Mazda in 1999.

Mazda cars have a reputation for looking and feeling different from the mainstream, thanks in part to their use of Wankel – or rotary – engines in certain models. During the 1960s, Mazda cooperated with NSU’s Felix Wankel – who gave his name to the engine – in Germany to introduce rotary-powered vehicles and this continues to the present day with the RX-8.

The company claims that: “Everything we do is daring, ingenious and fun. Our cars all have that extra-special ‘Zoom-Zoom’ factor: sports-inspired design and motoring in their soul,”. This is reflected through the full range of current cars from the all-new Mazda2 supermini to the Mazda BT-50 pick-up.

DID YOU KNOW?

Mazda’s factory at Hiroshima is one of the largest single-site automobile plants in the world, with an annual production capacity of about 480,000 cars.

Mazda is the only manufacturer in the world that makes petrol, diesel and rotary internal combustion engines.

The Mazda 787B won the Le Mans 24-Hour race in 1991. This was the first and only time a rotary engine has ever won the race, also marking the first victory for a Japanese car manufacturer.

The name Mazda stems from Ahura Mazda, the highest Zoroastrian God of reason who granted wisdom and united man, nature and the other gods.
