Should I Buy A New or Used Forklift Truck

Should I Buy A New or Used Forklift Truck

By: Charlie Mclean

The decision to purchase a forklift truck for your business should not be made lightly, and before making a purchase it is important to consider the requirements of your business, the amount of load and the number of hours you will require your forklift truck to work. There are advantages and disadvantages of purchasing both new and used forklift trucks and weighing these up carefully before making a purchase can save time and money in the long term.

Before purchasing any truck it is important to ensure it will meet all your working requirements so consider the load to be lifted; the environment the machine is required to operate in; and how many hours it will be required to run. Some dealers will provide you with a specification sheet allowing you to identify your requirement with regards to all of the above. However whether purchasing a new or used forklift truck it is important you ask for a demonstration to ensure suitability. If you are still unsure or new to using a forklift truck consider hiring a forklift, before purchasing, to ensure you have selected the correct machine for the job.

Another important aspect to consider is the amount of hours your truck will be used for, if you require the forklift to operate for around 40hrs or more a week you might consider purchasing a new forklift if your budget allows. Some new machines may be more affordable than others, obtain a range of quotes from both local and national companies to get the best deal available. Different companies have different stocks available and some may be carrying ex stock at cheaper prices than newly imported models. Also look out for those offering good warranty terms and check what they cover. It may also be possible to obtain a lease purchase agreement to spread the cost of your forklift truck. It is worth remembering that a new forklift truck begins to depreciate immediately so only purchase if you are sure you will require the machine for the long term.

For those looking for a more affordable option purchasing a used forklift truck can be the answer. Search for reputable dealers, who are concerned with sourcing the right machine for your requirements, as well as those who offer a range of finance options. If your machine is to be used in a busy role then consider lease purchase with additional maintenance cover at an extra cost to minimise any downtime, or a hire contract, which would include maintenance. Check out your local dealer or search online as a starting point. Once you have identified the correct forklift for your requirements ensure you know what to look out for when viewing the machine (see later article) or take an engineer with you to inspect it on your behalf.

Sydney's Car Parking Rental Market is Set to Explode

By: Angela Myers

If you have driven through Sydney in more recent times it is obvious that there is a high demand for parking spaces and the parking spaces that are available are very expansive.

This will continue as Sydney's population grows and our car manufacturing industry booms.

With few official council car parks available to commuters, and little subsidizing of this cost by employers, a clear demand exists for quality and affordable car park space. As a result, new services have arisen allowing those who may have a spare spot in Sydney to connect them with the commuters who are in such desperate need. This ends up being a win-win situation for all parties involved.

Now is the time to get in on a share of this exciting new market. As reported recently, parking in Sydney is big business with parking costs going through the roof. This has lead to the private parking market being primed to explode.

With the internet making it easier than ever before to advertise private parking spots or car parks, there is no need to go through any huge expense to advertise a spare space you may have. Putting up an ad for your Sydney car park is only a click away, with extremely profitable results for this most passive service you are providing. Easier money could not be made!

Not only is this easy money in your pocket, but think of all the people you could be helping who are in desperate need of parking.

The stressed businessman who is running late to a meeting and has to pay over $40 to park for a few hours will be all too happy to thank you for giving him that alternative of his own private Sydney parking spot that will be there for him every day, or the employees who have been left with no other option but to commute on crowded city busses each morning will now have the to rent your parking space saving them time and money.

There is no reason not to participate in this type of service if you have parking to spare that is just sitting, unused, somewhere in the city.

The growing demand for parking in Sydney is a major concern, but with car parking rental opportunities fast becoming a popular trend, Sydney's parking issues could be driving customers to your door, literally!

It’s basically instant money for you, and a big sigh of relief for commuters and other visitors to the city.

Unreliable cars unveiled

Unreliable cars unveiled

By: Pablo Elamin

In the world of cars some car manufacturers have a good reputation while others simply don’t. Some manufacturers have historically always produced reliable cars, but occasionally manufacturers with a good reputation turn out unreliable cars.

Based on claims made against the warranty on the car, below is a list of cars you probably thought were reliable but in fact aren’t:

The old Lexus LS sold between 2000 and 2003. Lexus is known for being both luxurious and of high quality but a massive 31% of this LS model broke down every year. And this is the same percentage as another Japanese car, the Mazda RX-8. But while a Lexus repair can cost up to £650, a repair of a Mazda RX-8 can total over £4,000. So if you own a vehicle like this, you should probably pray yours in one of the reliable ones.

Another well considered car is the Volkswagen Golf but the 2004-2009 model had a breakdown incident rate of 32%. Still a great car with excellent handling but clearly not as reliable as you would think. The Audi A3 is another well respected German offering which frankly disappoints when it comes to reliability. The annual failure of the A3 is a massive 38% with repairs costing up to almost £4,000.

But the least reliable of all is the Land Rover Discovery with a breakdown rate of 62%. This is a very popular car on British roads but with figures like that you have to wonder why. Repair bills can run as high as £3,000.

So noticeably it’s the traditionally very reliable Japanese and German cars that also turn out to be the most unreliable just proving that even great manufacturers can produce duds from time to time. If you’re in the market for a new car, it’s clearly worth checking online how reliable your favourite car is before you visit any local car dealers in Kent or any other regions. It might even be worth looking at other car makers such as Peugeot or Citroen

Parts Of Your Auto Air Conditioning System

Parts Of Your Auto Air Conditioning System

By: Gardnerwilkinson

If your auto air conditioning system is giving you problems, you probably need the help of a specialist. However, sometimes you can fix some of the more minor problems yourself, or at least arrange for a stopgap measure until you actually get the time to visit a car repair shop. For that you need to be familiar with the inner workings of your auto air conditioning system, and be acquainted with the more common problems that such systems face.

The first thing you need to realize is that the A/C in your car is basically just a fridge. You have mostly the same parts, with a design change. Given below are the most common parts of a car air conditioner:-

The Compressor: – The compressor pressurizes the refrigerant and circulates it throughout your car. Compressors usually malfunction if there is a leak in the system

The Condenser: – The condenser’s job is twofold. First, as can be guessed from its name, the condenser cools the refrigerant by removing excess heat from it. Second, it catches any debris coming from the compressor. Condensers are expensive and cannot be replaced frequently; at least not without causing a severe dent in your pocket, so it’s better to clean and repair them when necessary.

The Refrigerant: – This is what collects the heat from inside your vehicle and dumps it outside. In modern cars it’s a substance called R134a, whereas older cars have something called Freon. Freon has been gradually phased out because of the damage it causes to the ozone layer.

The Expansion Valve: – This is a type of nozzle that controls the pressure and flow of the refrigerant.

The Evaporator: – This transfers the heat from your car to the refrigerant, effectively cooling your car.

These are the basic parts of your car air conditioner, and while knowing them will not allow you to do the work of a skilled auto technician, they can help identify the more common A/C related problems and decide which one needs immediate attention.

For those looking to fix their auto air conditioning, Tucson has quite a few options. However, the one name that most auto enthusiasts of the area trust is Brakemax. They provide complete car care of the highest quality, and if you love your car and would not entrust it to anyone but the best, you need to visit brakemax.com and check out their services immediately.

Car MOT Test Coming Soon – Here’s What You Need To Know

By: Phil Cahill

Cars in the UK which are three years old or more, need to pass an MOT test. The test assesses whether the car meets road safety and minimum environmental standards, without dismantling it, at the time of the test itself. The test doesn’t include the condition of the engine, clutch and gearbox. It’s also not a guarantee of the general condition of the vehicle. Finally, it doesn’t mean that the vehicle is roadworthy for the duration of the certificate.

When can a vehicle have its MOT?

The earliest date that your car can have an MOT test is shown on the MOT certificate. Typically this is up to one month prior its expiry date.

Where are MOT tests done?

MOTs are performed at authorised test stations. These can be identified by a blue sign with three white triangles displayed outside their premises. To become a test station, garages must meet specific criteria. This includes using equipment that meets the required standard specification for MOT testing and having designated test bays. There are approximately 19,000 test stations throughout the UK.

How much does an MOT cost?

The maximum fee for a car is £54.85, whilst motorbikes (without a side car) are £29.65. The MOT fee varies according to the vehicle being tested. For instance it’s more expensive to test a HGV vehicle than a car. MOTs are excluded from being charged VAT.

What happens during the MOT test?

There’s a wide variety of important items that are checked during the MOT test, to see whether they meet the key legal requirements at the time of the test. This includes external elements such as: body and vehicle structure, doors, mirrors, lights, bonnet, tyres, wheels, wipers, washers and registration plates. Internally the seat belts, load security, brakes, horn, steering and suspension are reviewed. For environmental reasons the exhaust emissions are checked too.

The MOT tester will undertake the test and inspect all these areas. The test station must provide a designated area for you to observe the test being completed. However during the test, you’re not allowed to interrupt the MOT tester.

What happens once the MOT test is completed?

The result is entered into a central database. An MOT certificate is issued to cars that have passed. The computer record itself is the actual proof of a valid MOT, with the certificate simply being a receipt for the test itself. Cars that have failed are issued a red ‘refusal to issue an MOT certificate’. Any recommended repairs or items that need checking in the near future are sometimes listed on an Advisory Notice.

If your car has passed you can simply drive away. Your MOT will be valid for one year from the test date. Should you lose the certificate, a replacement can be issued by the test centre for a fee no greater than £10.

Cars which have failed need to be retested, once any work has been completed to resolve any problems. Although it’s common for the remedial to be completed at the test garage, it doesn’t have to be, and can actually be done at any garage. Without a valid MOT, driving to and from the garage for the repair work is allowed, along with driving to the test centre. However, although it’s legal, it’s advisable to contact your insurance provider to check such journeys are covered. The car cannot be driven in any other circumstances.

It is possible to challenge a failed test result. This will involve discussing the result with the test centre before any repair work is undertaken. Appealing against a failed result is done by completing a ‘VT17’ appeal form (from any test station), online or by phoning VOSA.

Mexican Auto Insurance – Who Should Buy Mexican Auto Insurance?

By: Gary Nichols

Mexico will have an estimated population of over 113 million people by the middle of 2011. It is the fifth largest country in overall size on the American continent and it has one of the largest economies in the world. Besides the thriving industries located on the U.S. and Mexican border, Mexico has a booming tourist based economy and is a popular destination for those from Canada and the U.S., who especially enjoy the Baja Peninsula region. If you plan to travel to Mexico, either for business or pleasure, there are some things you should think about regarding Mexican auto insurance.

Since the United States and Mexico share a border, it’s quite common for those who live on the U.S. side to cross over every day to conduct business or enjoy some of the beautiful Mexican scenery and hospitality. Much of this travel is done by car. If you drive across the border, you really should take a minute to find out about Mexico auto insurance and what your responsibilities are. Many people are unaware that their U.S. auto insurance coverage will not protect them if an accident occurs on the Mexican side of the border. Being unaware of your obligations won’t excuse you from them.

Here’s what you should know about Mexican insurance. Mexico’s legal system is based on the Napoleonic code. In the case of an accident, there may be a presumption of guilt until you prove your innocence. In the United States, the legal system is based on English Common Law, where the presumption of innocence first is the standard practice. If you do have an accident, Mexican law will require you to have proof of financial responsibility. This can only be done by either having enough cash on hand to cover the damages or by having Mexican auto insurance. Policies from other countries may not fulfill this requirement.

If you intend to travel to Mexico, there are convenient and reliable resources for finding Mexican insurance online. Be sure to take your time and do some thorough research. Look for an online presence that has been around for awhile. Really read the information the website provides. Check to see how available the staff will be if you need assistance. Also, don’t be afraid to investigate location specific insurance options. For instance, if you intend to travel to Baja, then ask about Baja insurance. Finally, you can even get personalized coverage by tailoring your policy to fit the timeframe and location of your travels.

The sound of the S4

The sound of the S4

By: Whitescot

Every morning as I get in my car to leave for work, I see my neighbour from a few doors down pulling out in his new Audi S4. I always delay getting in to my car so that I can hear him pull off; the sound of the V6 Supercharged engine at 6:30am always puts a smile on my face. I’m a petrol head, there, I said it. I went with him to buy used Audi S4 in Oxford a couple of years ago.

During the summer months my neighbour and I often take our cars round the back and wash them and chill with a can of beer. We both love our Audis and have mutual respect for each other’s cars. I used to have an S4 but I recently traded that in for a S5 as my kids are now grown up and no longer need lifts from me!

The S4 uses a 3-litre TFSI V6 engine, producing 328bhp and 325lb of torque. It can do 0-62mph in 5.1 seconds, as is the norm now a day it is electronically limited to 155mph. My neighbour drove over to Germany last summer and while he was there he got his car de-restricted so that he could “stretch its legs” on the autobahn. My neighbour drove over to Germany last summer and while he was there he got his car de-restricted so that he could “stretch its legs” on the autobahn.

Although the S4 is all about power and performance it does have very impressive fuel consumption and CO2 figures. On a combined cycle it can return 29.1 MPG and emit 225g of CO2 per Kilometre. My neighbour has the S-Tronic gearbox which further improves fuel economy to 30.1 MPG and 219 grams of CO2 per Kilometre – not bad for a high performance saloon.

Used Cars For Sale In The USA

By: Robert Boff

UsedCarLocate.com offers free searches of over 1,000,000 used cars and used trucks across the USA. Log onto our website and you will find used autos advertised by thousands of reputable used car dealerships nationwide. Whether you are looking for a cheap used car or a great foreign car we have it all!

Digital Automotive Network, in partnership with Dealer Specialties, created UsedCarLocate in 2007. This free used car search service offers used cars, trucks, sedans, convertibles, vans and suvs for sale nationwide. All UsedCarLocate.com vehicles are listed with dealer name, location, prices, multiple photos and full equipment details.

For those looking for a quality pre-owned car we offer certified pre-owned vehicles that have been extensively serviced by the dealer and come complete with added protection warranties by the manufacturer or dealer. In many cases the certified vehicles have gone through a 125-poing mechanical & safety inspection to assure your satisfaction. These certified pre-owned cars represent a great value because they are like new in most cases. Buying a certified used car from one of our UsedCarLocate.com dealers not only adds value but provides peace of mind.

On UsedCarLocate.com you can also contact the dealers to apply for auto credit. Most of our dealers offer an auto credit application right online so you can be pre-approved before you ever step in the showroom. With auto interest rates at an all time low it makes sense to use the power of our dealers bank networks to get you the best rate possible. Good credit or poor credits, our UsedCarLocate.com dealers have the connections to get you your new car fast. Remember, the amount of money you put down and the number of months of the loan will effect the interest rate you receive.

Used cars are a great value because when you buy a new car they lose over 20% of their value when you drive them off the lot. But buying a used car does not come without some cautions. We highly recommend that you check all the vehicle features and run a CarFax Record check to make sure the vehicle has not been in a major accident or had title issues. The CarFax Record check will also tell you where the vehicle has been and how many owners it has had which can be very telling.

We also recommend that you ask the dealer if you can take the vehicle to YOUR OWN MECHANIC for an inspection. There is a lot of value to having the vehicle looked at by a trained eye and you can save yourself some real frustration down the road. Any reputable dealer that is willing to stand behind their vehicle should have no problem with this request. In some cases dealers sell older or high mileage cars in “AS-IS” condition with no warranty coverage once you roll over the curb. Be careful and definitely have this vehicle inspected before buying.

Need auto insurance? We suggest using 2insure4less.com to get you competitive rates from multiple insurance companies. Its quick and easy and they do all the shopping for you. Within hours you will have quotes that can save you lots of money and it probably wont be from Geico! Give it a try before you buy.

But how do you get the best USED CAR PRICE? Well there are some keys to that. First, check for the car within 50-miles and look for your best two or three that match your price range, equipment, warranty and condition. Then call each dealer and find out how flexible they will be on the price if you come in for a test drive. Now its time to work your deal but remember that dealers will dig deep and lower their price most during the last three days of the month to make their budgets.

Find your best deal on a quality used car now by visiting us at UsedCarLocate.com. You will be glad you did!
